The Asian Basketball Federation has announced the date for the draw of the FIBA Asia Cup, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at the beginning of August. The draw ceremony will take place next Tuesday, April 8th, at 1 PM in Jeddah, with the attendance of officials from the Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the President of the Asian Federation, Dr. K. Govindraj, the Executive Director of the Asian Federation, Mr. Hagop Khajirian, and the President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi. The draw ceremony will be broadcast live on the FIBA YouTube channel.
The Asian Basketball Federation announced on April 4th the distribution of participating teams into 4 levels as follows:
Level 1
Saudi Arabia (Host) Australia – Japan – New Zealand
Level Two
Iran – Lebanon – China – Philippines
Level Three
Jordan – South Korea – Syria – Chinese Taipei
Level 4
India – Qatar – Guam – Iraq
Each team from each pot will be placed into a single group.
where each group includes 4 Teams whose first-place finishers qualify directly for the quarter-finals. and knockout matches will be played between the runners-up and third-placed teams to determine the four teams that qualify for the same round..
