The President of the Saudi Arabian Basketball Federation, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, received a special delegation from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in Jeddah last Saturday, 11/7/1446 AH, corresponding to 1/11/2025 AD. The delegation came to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on an official visit to review the latest developments and updates related to hosting the Men’s Asian Championship, which Saudi Arabia will host in Jeddah next August.

The two-day tour included field visits to the indoor sports hall at King Abdullah Sports City, as well as technical meetings where the following matters were discussed:

• Preparing for the FIBA Executive Office Asian Board meeting, which will be held in Jeddah at the end of this January.

• Setting up work teams and the organizational structure for the Men’s Asian Cup.

• Promotional plans for the Asian Cup.

• Preparing for the Asian Cup Draw

Where the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) delegation consisted of:

• Mr. Hagop Khajirian – Executive Director – FIBA ASIA Executive Office

• Mr. Raffi Kassabian – Director of Sport and Competitions – FIBA ASIA

• Mr. Magheshwaran Saba – Communications Manager – FIBA ASIA

They were received and accompanied on the field tours and in attending the technical meetings by the following members of the Saudi Basketball Federation:

• Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi – President of the Saudi Arabian Basketball Federation.

• Mr. Abdulilah bin Shuaiel – CEO of the Federation.

• Mr. Tony Khalil – Technical Director of the Federation.
